It’s the start of a new school year, and parents will undoubtedly be looking for fun ways to engage their children to learn more about the world around them. Chinese animated film Kiangnam 1894, which is available exclusively on Toggle from today (January 7), is the perfect fit for that.

The movie, which runs for just under an hour and a half, was produced over a three-year period and revolves around Shanghai’s industrial sector in the late Qing Dynasty.

A young man named Lang stumbles upon the Jiangnan Machinery Manufacture General Bureau, where he joins as an apprentice and hones his skills. The famous factory was where many significant scientific and technological breakthroughs were made, and remains one of the most well-remembered factories in China.

Not only is the film educational, but it also imparts important life lessons, such as the importance of friendship, loyalty, respect for your elders and hard work.

Traditional Chinese music is also featured in the movie, and viewers will be able to get a better appreciation of China’s rich history through this full-length feature.
