Fairytales do come true, and for Cheryl Wee, marrying her first love, Roy Fong, whom she knew since she was 17 years old (they were students at Victoria Junior College), was a dream come true. The bride, dressed in one of her two Vera Wang bridal gowns, made a trip down the aisle, accompanied by her father Mervin Wee, on Saturday morning.

The newly-weds said their ‘I Dos’ at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, ahead of their wedding dinner at Ritz Carlton hotel on Saturday night. The 2-day celebration took 1.5 years in the planning and is said to be a showcase of the couple’s love story which spans 12 years and counting.

The wedding dinner was a romantic and dreamy affair as the ballroom and reception area was outfitted to look like an enchanted forest with unicorns, owls and deers. Close to 1,200 guests turned up to celebrate the couple’s union (they had 600 guests per wedding night) and they were treated to a variety of performances by the couple and their families. The opening song was performed by Cheryl’s aunt, Dawn Yip, the bride’s parents put up a skit, and the newlyweds did a song duet and a dance performance with their bridal party.

Celebrity friends Julie Tan, Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu were some familiar faces spotted at the church wedding, while singer Ming Bridges and actor Darren Tan formed part of the bridal squad. Zoe Tay, celebrity couple Hong Hui Fang and Zheng Ge Ping as well as Aileen Tan and her director husband were some of the invited guests at the couple’s wedding shindig.

Prior to their church wedding ceremony and two-day wedding dinner, the couple had an elaborate traditional Chinese betrothal ceremony (or ‘Guo Da Li’) two weekends ago.

The 30-year-old actress kept tight-lipped about her relationship with Roy and only went public about it on Feb 1 this year in an Instagram post about her wedding proposal.
