Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh, who rose to new levels of fame after starring in Story of Yanxi Palace, has kept her plate full in the past year.
She announced the launch of her cosmetics line Sh in May, and less than a month later, has expanded her horizons once again by taking on the role of a swimsuit designer in a collaboration with Hong Kong brand Gourami.
The 44-year-old posted two photos of herself in her self-designed swimwear on her social media platforms, and has received an overwhelming positive response on the post. The 14-piece collection, which is now available online, is priced between HK$499 (S$87) and HK$899 (S$157) and includes bikinis, one-piece swimsuits and a monokini.
On the same day, she attended the collection's launch event in Hong Kong, where she shared with reporters that she is willing to take on photoshoots or projects that require her to show more skin than usual, as long as the concept is one that encourages “a healthy sort of beauty”.
As for her cosmetics brand Sh, the line currently only consists of 12 shades of lipstick which she was inspired to create while filming Yanxi Palace. She explained that she wanted to have lipstick shades that would be able to express her character’s change from a consort to an empress, but was unable to find a shade of red that she liked. She ended up mixing different shades, and later developing her own lipstick line.
Sh’s lipsticks went on sale on June 10. At press time, over 100,000 units have been sold on WeChat e-commerce platform Youzan.
