Global superstars BTS have kicked off pre-release promotions for their upcoming release, MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA. Leader RM’s comeback trailer, ‘Persona’, was unveiled on March 27, and the music video amassed over 10 million views in the first 24 hours.
In a post made on the group's fan cafe on April 28, RM confirmed that ‘Persona’ includes samples from BTS’ 2014 release, ‘Skool Luv Affair’. This has fuelled speculation that their upcoming album will refer heavily to the group’s existing discography, especially after there have been multiple familiar words and imagery spotted by their fans.
If proven true, this comes at an especially serendipitous timing as many of the group’s current fans, who might not have known of the group back then, will be given the chance to go on a walk down memory lane with BTS.
The Korean group has anticipations running high for their sixth mini album, which will be released on April 12. As of March 19, unofficial figures saw MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA recording a whopping 2.6 million copies sold internationally during their pre-order period, making it the fastest-selling album of the decade.
Soon after the release of MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA, the septet will kick off their LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF stadium tour, which has seen tickets to their stops in Los Angeles, Brazil, London and Paris snapped up moments after going on sale.
After which, the group is expected to bring their tour back to Asia. At press time, the only confirmed Asian shows will be in Osaka and Shizuoka, with the gigs taking place in early July.
In the midst of their busy schedules, BTS will also return home to South Korea for their annual fan meetings. They have announced that they will hold two sessions each in Busan and Seoul in June.
