Are Lin Chi-ling, EXILE’s Akira settling down in LA?

The spotlight has been on Taiwanese model Lin Chi-ling after her surprise wedding announcement on June 6. Although she and her husband, Japanese actor-singer Akira, shared the good news on their respective social media platforms, media outlets have been left scrambling to find out more about their relationship and future plans.

After registering their marriage, the couple is believed to have gone on honeymoon in the United States, where they will reportedly be based. This is in line with what Akira said in an interview earlier this year, in which the EXILE member shared he wants to “be based in Los Angeles, brush up on my language skills and improve myself”.

However, netizens have yet to spot the couple in public, which has raised doubts about the legitimacy of the reports.

Netizens have also been digging up old interviews that mention the couple. Goro Kishitani, director of musical Red Cliff -Love-, where they first met, shared that the male cast dressed up to impress Chi-ling, and that Akira was especially welcoming towards her throughout the entire process.

In addition, the model’s father said in an interview four years ago that Chi-ling often conversed in Japanese while on the phone, which caused some to speculate that she and Akira gradually got closer over the years.
