When veteran Hongkong actor Anthony Wong revealed in May that he was “preparing” to be a  Taiwanese citizen, it caused quite a stir online. There were netizens who welcomed the 58-year-old, who was then in Taiwan to shoot a drama, with open arms, while others criticised him for turning his back on his own country and bringing "shame to the Wong family name".

So naturally when Anthony tweeted that he had “left the place I lived in for 20 years and am starting a new life” last Saturday (Aug 29), many assumed he had completed his immigration process, which led them to leave comments wishing him all the best in Taiwan.
