More than a year after going radio silent on Instagram and Facebook no thanks to his very public affair with actress Jacqueline Wong, Hongkong singer Andy Hui has finally made his return to social media.
Yesterday (Jun 25), the 52-year-old updated his Facebook and Instagram pages with a picture of his performance on ViuTV’s music show, Chill Club, — his first official gig since the scandal. In the post, he thanked his friend, musician Joey Tang, for having his back.
“Joey has always supported me since I became a singer 20 years ago. Whenever he plays the guitar, it feels so soothing,” Andy wrote.
Andy’s last IG post was on April 16 last year, where he apologised to his wife, pop diva Sammi Cheng, for cheating on her.
Netizens appeared to be supportive of Andy’s comeback, with many leaving messages saying that they are “looking forward to his next performance”. Some reminded him not to “let fans down again” while fellow singer Alex Fong told Andy that he’ll “always be [his] favourite singer”.
Jacqueline and Andy in happier times
However, some netizens think that Andy has yet to turn over a new leaf, as this picture of him and Jacqueline still remains on his Facebook page.
In addition, Jacqueline, 31, posted a cryptic message on June 16. She wrote: "You'd think some people would help you out during difficult times... But they don't have the courage to see you through tough times together, leaving you disappointed."
Netizens were left wondering if the actress' post had anything to do with Andy, with some even suspecting that Jacqueline was expressing her disappointment at Andy's comeback.
