Chinese singer-songwriter Li Ronghao’s showbiz story has fascinated many, and with good reason.

He released his debut album Model in 2013, and shot to fame immediately after. His career has been smooth-sailing since then, with the 34-year-old hitting milestones in his career in record time. He picked up trophies for the Best Chinese Singer of the Year (2014 YinYue V Radio Awards), Song of the Year (2015 Global Pop Song Charts Awards) and Chinese Album of the Year (2015 QQ Music Charts Festival) – and this was within two years of his debut.

More recently, he also became the youngest ever panel member on hugely popular talent show Sing! China, which has seen industry giants Jay Chou, Wang Leehom and Eason Chan, among others, sit on the same panel. Oh, and a contestant from his camp also won the fourth season of the contest this month.

On the relationship front, Ronghao has also proved to be a winner, as he tied the knot with Taiwanese singer Rainie Yang last month.

At his Singapore show held on October 19, Ronghao once again proved his mettle as he powered through the show with aplomb. Even a cold, which he claimed that he was suffering from (we honestly couldn’t tell), couldn’t hamper his performance, as the crowd went wild at his show.

Even Ronghao saw the difference, as he grinned that the audience has become “wilder” since his last visit here in 2017. One thing that he kept bringing up, however, was that he’s an “old person”, deadpanning that fans shouldn’t scream to get his attention while he’s talking, lest he forgot what he was about to say.

Among two of the performances that stood out the most was his rendition of ‘Ear’, when he played the piano while blindfolded. This alone was enough to show how much practice and sincerity he put into his music, as he pulled off the performance perfectly.

Another highlight of his show was when he sang a cover of Singapore singer Tanya Chua’s ‘Beautiful Love’. He prepared this song especially for Singapore, and revealed that he will not be singing it anywhere else.

Now that he’s taken the final bow and is off to continue on his tour, however, fans are anticipating something else – his concert at the Taipei Arena this weekend. This show, which saw tickets selling out in three minutes after they were released on the official ticketing site, has fans wondering if his missus will take the stage as a special guest.

Considering how they haven’t seen each other for a month (or maybe even more by now), this might be the perfect time for the newlyweds to spend some quality time together, bonding over what they do best – music.
