Hong Kong veteran singer Alan Tam’s wife, Sally Yeung has reportedly decided to give up her assets worth HK$1 billion (approximately S$170 million) to become a nun.
After his father’s death in 2006, Alan came clean about his affair with Wendy Chu who gave birth to their illegitimate son Tam Hiu Fung. Sally was devastated by the revelation and often quarreled with Alan, due to her unhappiness about Wendy’s presence.
Disheartened by her husband’s behaviour, Sally moved to live in Chi Lin Nunnery for a long period of time, while retaining control of the Tam family’s assets. Sources recently revealed that the devout Buddhist is planning to distance herself from worldly affairs by becoming a nun.
This meant that Wendy, who has quietly followed Alan for the past 20 years, is likely to inherit the hefty assets.
Additionally, insiders also claimed that Alan is extremely doting on his only son, even sending him to University of Oxford for further studies. As Hiu Fung takes after his dad’s music talent (he plays the piano, guitar and drums), record company Universal Music previously tried to sign him on as an artiste, but was flatly rejected by Alan.
