AB6IX’s youngest member Daehwi can’t wait to start ‘adulting’

Chances are that the mental image you have of what he wants to do varies differently from reality

The very mention of ‘adulting’ would pretty much illicit a groan from just about anyone – having to deal with chores, bills and basically the nitty gritty grown-up stuff that we hate to have to do.

Korean rookie group AB6IX’s youngest member, Daehwi, however, was positively bouncing in excitement when he thought of the prospect of becoming an adult. He will turn 19 in 2020, and in South Korea you’re considered an adult once you turn that age.

“My goal for the upcoming year is to become a ‘legal’ adult!” he told Toggle in an interview hours before the group was to take the stage for their first fan meeting in Singapore last Saturday (Jul 27). “I’d like to experience some of the things that only adults can enjoy, such as drinking with friends.”

The other four older members of his group, Woojin, Youngmin, Donghyun and Woong chuckled fondly at how excited Daehwi was, and shared their hopes with us as well.

Youngmin, who is the oldest of the group, mused, “I want to make sure that I become a better leader of the group” as the other members chimed in, telling him that he has been doing a great job so far. Meanwhile, Donghyun had big dreams for the group, which only debuted two months ago.

“I really want AB6IX to go more globally and show different sides of myself to the fans,” he said. Woong, the only one out of the group who has never been a part of another team (more on that in just a bit), added that he hopes to be able to write more songs like Daehwi and Donghyun.

Woojin, who the members shared is quiet in front of strangers, but boisterous when he is with his pals, shared, “I wish that my leg will heal faster so that I can dance until my body wears out.” He has been forced to sit out of the group’s activities after sustaining an ankle injury in June. Even at the fan meeting, he stayed seated for most of the night.
