The husband of ‘80s Japanese singer Yumi Tanimura has been arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.

According to media reports, Eiko Harada, who is the Japanese chairman of the Taiwanese bubble tea chain Gong Cha, allegedly kicked his 55-year-old wife in the leg and hit her limbs with a golf club during a heated dispute at their Tokyo home last Friday (Feb 5).

The 72-year-old was arrested after Yumi called the police.

It is not known if he admitted to the charges.
