2017 Razzies: Winners List
On the night before Hollywood honours the best movies at the Oscars, the movies that suck big time get their moment to shine at the Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Razzies). Take a bow, Batman, Superman… and Hillary Clinton.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a big winner/loser at the 37th Golden Raspberry Awards. It won Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Combo and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off Or Sequel.
Hillary Clinton may have lost the presidential race, but she was victorious at the 37th Golden Raspberry Awards, or the Razzies.
Okay, she didn’t really win; a docu about her, Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, did. The critically-mauled docu — written and co-directed by conservative political commentator Dinesh D'Souza — also took home Worst Actor, Worst Actress and Worst Director.
The other big winner (loser) is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which won Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Combo, and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off Or Sequel.
Zoolander No. 2 was a major disappointment: Of the eight nominations, it only won Worst Supporting Actress. So, it wasn't really that awful, right? Elsewhere, the PR rehab campaign of Mel Gibson continues with him receiving The Razzie Redeemer Award for his work on Hacksaw Ridge.
The Barry L Bumstead Award, a fancy-sounding honour (Bumstead, really?) given to a movie "that lost a lot and cost a lot", was given to Misconduct.
The legal thriller, starring Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins and Lee Byung-hun, cost US$11 million (S$15.5 mil) to make, but was released with little fanfare on VOD and streaming services. It earned US$15,150. Thanks to the Razzies, we now know that it exists.
