If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram over the past couple of months, there’s a very high chance you were bombarded with pics or vids of people sweating it out in their living rooms-turned-fitness centres. Just like how more folks are turning into avid chefs during the circuit breaker period, there’s been a surge in yoga and HIIT enthusiasts.
While most tend to exercise on their own, working out is a family affair for Elvin Ng and his mum, sister, brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces, who all live together in his sprawling, self-designed semi-D. In fact, if it weren’t for them, the 39-year-old would not be working as hard to keep up with his #stayhome fitness routine. That’s what he told 8days.sg when we caught up with him over the phone earlier this week, anyway.
“In the past, I could never work out at home 'cos it's a place to relax. But I was told that I have two shower scenes in my new show so I have to get in shape!” he chortled. “I would have liked to do more weight training, but since gyms are closed, working out at home is the next best alternative. And I’m lucky to be able to do it with my family, otherwise I don’t think I would be as disciplined exercising by myself.”
