Why Does Christopher Lee & Fann Wong’s 6-Year-Old Son Zed Refuse To Watch Them On TV?
The kid even covered his mum’s eyes when they played a clip during the family’s appearance on Mediacorp talk show The Inner Circle.
Unlike most of the other celebs who appeared on The Inner Circle over the past two months, Christopher Lee had four groups of mystery guests joining him and host Guo Liang on stage in this week’s finale of the Mediacorp talk show, instead of the usual three (his wife Fann Wong only had two people appear in her episode, though, so we guess it kinda evens out).
The last ones to show up were Fann and the couple’s six-year-old son Zed, who adorably skipped out in a lion dance costume. While Christopher had been expecting his missus to come out at one point or another, his boy’s visit completely took him by surprise.
Someone sure knows how to make an entrance
Spunky little Zed certainly wasn’t afraid to make his presence known. When his parents and Guo Liang were in the middle of discussing something else, he suddenly piped up with a random remark about wanting to buy some sort of starfish.
“I think we can buy some luminous corals for once,” he said in English.
A confused Guo Liang asked Christopher what the child was talking about, and the 49-year-old actor explained that Zed currently has an interest in sea creatures, so he bought a fish tank and promised that they will go shopping for underwater denizens to fill it with.
“He’s been very excited and keeps talking about ocean-related things,” the proud papa beamed.
The little merman
Zed also didn’t shy away from speaking his mind or doing whatever he wanted to do, cameras be damned. In an attempt to engage the boy, Guo Liang asked if he watches his parents on TV, to which Zed responded with a very loud and very bold “No!”. Oops.
Even when Guo Liang pleaded with him to give it a chance, Zed refused to budge and exclaimed, “No, I don’t like!”
His aversion to seeing his folks on screen is apparently so serious that when they played a brief montage of Fann and Chris’ collabs, Zed covered his mum’s eyes. He then hopped off the couch and marched off the stage, dragging his mother along with him, much to the amusement of everyone.
Usually, it’s the other way around
Apparently, there is a story behind Zed’s behaviour.
According to Chris, the first time Zed was exposed to one of their shows was when he saw the trailer for 2018’s Doppelganger on TV, and it just so happened that the scene involved someone throwing an egg at Fann.
“From then on, whenever I said I’m going to work, [Zed] would ask if his mum would be there, and if she was, he would tell her not to go,” said Chris. “He’s very protective of her.”
