Joshua Tan Lied To His Parents About Going To Church… Then Stole Their Money To Play Games At A LAN Shop

Despite calling himself a “legendary good kid” with the “appearance of an angel” at first, Joshua boldly clarified that he’s actually a “bad boy”. So just how bad has the Ah Boys to Men star been?

When the 30-year-old was a kid, he would find ways to try and avoid going to church with his family, such as by telling them that he would go to a later service by himself after them.

However, instead of going to pray, Joshua went to play instead… at a cyber cafe in the West Coast area. And that’s not even the worst part.

“At that time, I was only 10 years old and the rate at that LAN shop was $2 an hour, which was pretty expensive for a primary school kid, so I stole money,” he confessed, as the others gasped in shock.

According to Joshua, he would sneak into his parents’ room whenever they were out to take cash from their wallets, usually making off with $2, $5, or $10 notes (he said he never stole coins).

Of course, his days of being a little thief are far behind him, and Joshua took the opportunity to send a message to his dad on camera, saying that he never steals his money anymore. “I give you more money, in fact! More money than I stole from you.”

And yes, his story turned out to be true.

Also telling the truth about his lie, which he said was so terrible he still feels guilty about it to this day, was Zijie.

The NOC artiste and former Campus SuperStar finalist once told his mother that he was going to Taiwan for a work opportunity, and that he didn’t know how long he would need to be there for. “But I didn’t actually go there for work — I went to visit my girlfriend.”

Since he didn’t have a job, Zijie had to rely on his savings, which quickly ran out since he was staying in expensive hotels. He then took on part-time jobs at places like the night market to make ends meet.

Alas, the relationship didn’t work out and they broke up after a year and a half, and Zijie came back to Singapore. “I’m not sure if my mum knows that I actually went there for love instead of work.”

Zijie is now dating Phyllis Seah aka one of the ‘chio bu’ owners of the Fei Zhu Lok Lok stall at Tai Seng industrial estate.
