Joanne Peh To Wear Diamond Necklace That Costs As Much As An “Orchard Road Studio Apartment” At Star Awards 2021
Celeb stylist Martin Wong gives us a peek into what stars like Joanne, Fann Wong and Felicia Chin would be wearing on local showbiz's biggest night.
Remember the S$500,000 cuff Zoe Tay wore — and almost lost — at Star Awards 2019? Well, here’s another piece of jewellery that had better be very, very carefully guarded at this Sunday’s (Apr 18) show.
8days.sg has learned from celebrity stylist Martin Wong that Joanne Peh will be flaunting a Harry Winston diamond necklace that’s worth a whole lot of money.“She’ll basically be wearing an Orchard Road studio apartment around her neck,” Martin quipped during our phone interview.
The necklace has 81.85 carats of diamonds set in platinum and is the most expensive single piece of jewellery Martin has ever put on a star. He had it specially flown in from Hongkong for Joanne.
She’ll have to turn around for the cameras to capture it, though — the necklace will be draped down the 36-year-old’s back instead of being in front, which Martin had in mind when he was selecting her dress.
“Usually, we look for a necklace to suit the dress, but this time, it was the other way around, and I had to look for a dress to suit the necklace,” Martin shared, adding that he eventually settled on a very low backless dress from Berta.
Will it be as sexy as this classic look she wore in 2010?
Besides Joanne, Martin will also be styling Jo's husband Qi Yuwu, as well as Fann Wong, Felicia Chin, Jeffrey Xu, Ann Kok, and Dawn Yeoh for the ceremony.
However, with the exception of Fann, who will be pairing her embellished short dress from Versace with high jewellery from Cartier (although Martin couldn’t provide more details at the time of our interview), no one else will be exhibiting extravagantly priced trinkets like Joanne, and the reason has to do with the pandemic we’re still in.
“‘Cos of the limited headcount, we couldn’t get clearance to get extra security in, so it was very challenging,” Martin explained.
From what we understand, each star wearing super expensive jewellery like Joanne will have to be escorted by at least two people that night, a bodyguard and a manager from the brand.

Someone who’ll be showing viewers a fresh new look is Felicia, who’s up for her 10th and final Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes trophy this weekend.
“She wanted to try something different and suggested a suit this year, so I flew in a custom-made tux from Ralph Lauren,” said Martin. “It’s something androgynous and something we’ve never seen before.”
They also had comfort in mind when they picked out the suit. “It’s more her kind of style and isn’t so uptight, and it’s easier for her to move around freely in the airport instead of dragging a gown around.”
