The COVID-19 pandemic has changed life as we know it. These days, it’s all about safe distancing and staying home whenever possible, and this sedentary lifestyle also means that your weighing scale has probably been showing you numbers that you wish weren’t real.

Now if you’ve been lazing around at home, veteran actor Chen Shucheng has a message for you: You can work out even from the comfort of your sofa.

We first hear this from the 70-year-old over the phone while we're, um, sitting on our very comfy sofa. So our first reaction is to doubt what he’s saying. How can staying on our butts while doing a couple of “very easy exercises” — his words, not ours — help us get fit?

“The movements involved are very simple, which means that even someone like me, who hasn’t exercised in years, can pick them up very easily,” he chuckles as we ask him to elaborate on his experience filming new Mediacorp infotainment show Get Fit With Me!. “At the same time, the beauty of these exercises is that you can increase the intensity or do more repetitions if you think that what you’re doing is too simple. Of course, you need to do it right or you might risk overexerting yourself.”
