JJ Lin denies confirming relationship with Jin Sha

JJ returned to Singapore to attend the massive outdoor fashion show at the Samsung Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard 2016 last night. The traffic-stopping event took place on the 550-m stretch of Orchard Road between Scotts Road and Bideford Road that had been closed off and transformed into a runway.

Other celeb guests present included Malaysian Instagram star Min Chen, Indonesian host and presenter Daniel Mananta, Filipino fashion blogger Laureen Uy, and Singaporean actress–model Sheila Sim, stylist Keith Png, model Iman Fandi Ahmad, singer Aisyah Aziz and actress Hayley Woo.

Min Chen, who turns 26 this year, boasts nearly half a million followers on the photo-sharing platform and said her meteoric rise to Internet fame made her feel like a newborn baby, “because everything is fresh and new to me.”

She’s headed to Taiwan to develop her showbiz career, and her latest projects include a non-speaking role in a zombie movie produced by Hong Kong actor Ha Yu, due for release this year.

A bout of stress-induced eczema two years ago got her started on regular exercise, techniques of which she posted online and it got her noticed.

“I had a feeling that exercise would cure my condition, and after I began I started seeing results,” she said. “It’s important to work out vigorously twice or thrice a week — if you keep it up you’ll find that your energy levels go up, you look better and you can accomplish more.”

How would you make a fashion statement? I like a casual clothes, and I think it’s most important to be comfortable.

What’s your must-have look or item? I don’t wear makeup often, and on regular days I go for a more androgynous look, with a hat and sneakers — more sporty casual.

Describe your personal style. I like to experiment with new looks. The bulk of my work now takes place overseas where there are four seasons, so I will try out new items and combinations. (Having seasons) is a little more fun (than being in the tropics all the time).

How would you make a fashion statement?

Laureen: I’m the edgy, quirky type, I like wearing pants and matching stuff.
Daniel: As a public figure, people have their eyes on me all the time, so I have to be careful to represent whatever I’m doing. My style is flexible, but I try to inspire people to look better every day.

What’s your must-have look or item?

Laureen: I like wearing lipstick a lot, because on regular days I don’t wear much make up, so I make sure I have lipstick on and probably just throw on a pair of sunglasses.
Daniel: Lipstick as well! (laughs) For me I like to wear jackets a lot even though in Indonesia it’s so hot, so I will sacrifice (comfort) for style. And bracelets — I like to wear accessories a lot. But I don’t like to wear branded stuff just for the sake of upgrading my value.

Describe your personal style.

Laureen: I like to experiment a lot, and on my blog I tell my readers it’s ok to experiment on your style and don’t be afraid to mix and match. We all make errors … I used to wear elephant pants a lot back in the day. I had one pair and I would wear it all the time.
Daniel: I can’t put any description on it, I’m super flexible. When I’m on stage I wear tuxedos and I try to look like the Asian James Bond — I call myself 008, just for the good number.

How would you make a fashion statement?

Iman: You have to be bold and adventurous, you have to do something wild and different.
Hayley: For me it’s to be myself.
Aisyah: To be fashionable and stylish you have to want to try different things. It’s OK to look different, but however you look like it’s still fashion.
Keith: It’s to get out of your comfort zone, try things that are different and experimental, and at the same time you can be like me and try to stand next to tall women (laughs) so this is my fashion statement!
Sheila: I think it’s being the next best version of being yourself.

What’s your must-have look or item?

Aisyah: I cannot leave the house without lipstick — I would look awful without lipstick. I can leave my phone at home, but I cannot leave my lipstick — it’s that bad! (Any favourite shade?) I love nude shades, even when I’m not wearing makeup they lighten up my face.
Iman: I’d say go natural, be natural, be yourself. I’ll just put on chapstick, lip balm or maybe some lip gloss sometimes.
Hayley: I can go out bare-faced, and on bad days I can just bring shades. Or draw your eyebrows.
Keith: I can’t leave the house without sunblock. Even for guys you need sunblock.
Sheila: My phone. It has a mirror so I can always check my make-up.
