People can now choose to wear either a face mask or a face shield when they leave the house. According to Ministry of Health guidelines, wearing either a face mask or a face shield provides adequate protection for the general public. Experts have said that for better protection, the shield should be worn together with a face mask. But know that in these challenging times, you now have the option of a clear plastic shield, which can be worn with or without a disposable or reusable mask.

This could be useful for kids, especially when many of them go back to school on June 2, as it's hard to get kids to keep their masks on, and it can be challenging in our humidity and in non-air conditioned classrooms. Face shields can also be cleaned more easily than face masks. According to Education Minster Ong Ye Kung, in an Instagram Live Q&A with influencer Drea Chong, face shields will be distributed to all pre-school and primary school kids about a couple of weeks into Term 3, which starts June 2.

If you think a face shield is for you, 8days.sg has sussed out some sellers online. Some of these are local sellers with ready stock, while others are pre-order only or shipped from overseas. The shields may be of varying quality, so buy at your own risk.
