About one-and-a-half years ago, we interviewed Lily Kew, who owns Kew Organics, a homegrown organic skincare brand with its own comprehensive range of beauty products and two facial spas, one at Clarke Quay Central and one at Everton Park. Beneath her unassuming and down-to-earth exterior was a lady with an extraordinary story — she divorced and then re-married her husband, which means that she married the same man twice, and went on to get pregnant via IVF at 45, thanks to a fertility clinic in Johor Bahru. Now, at 48, she’s three months pregnant with their second baby, also via IVF. But before that, the 1.64m-tall beauty entrepreneur lost 12kg in six months, going from 63kg to a trim 51kg.

8days.sg saw her at an event to launch her new products from Kew Organics, and we were amazed at her transformation. How did you do it? We had to ask. The answer, it turned out, was intermittent fasting. But the way Lily did it didn’t seem to involve great sacrifice or hunger, or desperately counting the hours till the next meal. In fact, she makes it sound positively easy. But then again, this woman seems to be able to make pretty impossible things happen on a regular basis. FYI: Intermittent fasting is not regarded as a diet in the conventional sense, but more like an eating pattern, with the key being when you eat, rather than a huge focus on what you eat. But take note, to try intermittent fasting or any kind of diet or weight loss method, you first have to be healthy. Check with your doctor if you’re unsure, and always listen to your body.
