Popular K-drama actress Park Shin Hye was in town last Friday to promote Mamonde, the floral-based Korean skincare and beauty brand. The cheerful 27-year-old star of hit dramas such as Doctors (2016) and The Heirs (2013) met with media at W Singapore at Sentosa Cove in the morning, where she dispensed beauty advice, before hotfooting it to a meet-and-greet session with her fans at VivoCity. We didn't get that close to the gorgeous K-star, but still managed to pick up five precious pointers.
1. The no-make-up make-up look is strong with her.
Looking like she was barely wearing any face paint, Park Shin Hye exuded natural radiance and showed off dewy skin that looked fresh as a flower. We could see that even from our fifth-row seat in the large auditorium. The 27-year-old actress says: “I usually apply some [Mamonde] Hibiscus cream to moisturise my face, then put on some foundation using the cover powder cushion. I place focus on my lips by applying a creamy lip tint. That brightens up my whole face before I leave the house (chuckles).”
2. It’s okay to indulge in cheat meals once in a while.
Unlike those skin-and-bones Korean stars, the svelte and healthy-looking Shin Hye isn’t afraid to share that she feasts on seafood whenever she’s in Singapore, especially chilli and black pepper crabs. “I haven’t gotten a chance to try them this time round,” she laments. “But my fans sent me chilli crab sauce to bring back to Korea!”
3. Rusty orange is in this summer.
Take it from Shin Hye. She totally rocked that shade with a modest but flattering midi dress.
4. Always clean your skin at night.
Shin Hye's most important beauty must-do, which she abides by strictly. “Actresses use a lot of make-up, so it’s important to clean out all the gunk at night for better and brighter skin,” she preaches.
5. If all else fails, smile.
The pretty star shows us that a winning smile is the key to success. Even when she was asked countless questions, ranging from her beauty tips to her acting career, Shin Hye gave earnest replies along with her million-dollar smile. So charming is the K-star that we had to forgive her for turning up almost 45 minutes late.
