There are a few exceptions, though.

From Jul 1, Singapore Airlines passengers can enjoy unlimited free Wi-Fi on flights, regardless of cabin class. Yes, everyone from Economy and Premium Economy to Business and Suites passengers will soon be able to scroll to their hearts’ content and stay connected while they’re 36,000 feet in the sky on an SQ flight.

The only exception is flights on the carrier’s seven Boeing 737-800 NGs that are not Wi-Fi enabled.

The expanded offering for free Wi-Fi is good news for most of us, no matter which camp you belong to in the kerfuffle over Singapore Airlines serving food in paperware. After all, it's a considerable upgrade for Economy and Premium Economy Class passengers, who were previously restricted to two to three hours of complimentary inflight Wi-Fi. Business and First Class, Suites passengers as well as PPS members have been entitled to unlimited complimentary inflight Wi-Fi since early this year.

Here’s the catch: To enjoy free unlimited Wi-Fi onboard, passengers must be KrisFlyer members. However, membership is free to join (sign up here).

It’s important to note that passengers must enter their KrisFlyer membership details prior to boarding, either at the point of booking (look for the ‘Manage Booking’ option) or at check-in, in order to enjoy free unlimited Wi-Fi on board.
