4 New Hotels To Consider For Your Next Staycation
Staycay all day, err-day.

Hang out with robots at: Yotel Singapore
Are we in a spaceship? The lobby of the quirky-cool microhotel is decked in stark white interiors and purple strobe lights, and there are touchscreen self-check-in kiosks …and two robots perched at the reception.

Is that you, Wall-E?
The yet-to-be-named robots, which each cost a $100K to produce, greet guests with a sassy “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?” But their main job is to deliver special request items to rooms, such as power adaptors or even an anniversary surprise (no food, sadly). They’re also programmed to take the lift up to the rooms on their own, and to dodge any obstructions. Try doing the cha-cha-cha with them and see what happens.

Home décor inspo for your BTO?
Inspired by first-class airline lounges and Japanese capsule hotels, Yotel’s 610 cleverly-designed space-saving rooms are known as cabins. Part of the fun staying there is uncovering gems hidden in unexpected nooks and crannies — ironing boards, convertible table tops, etc — and tinkering with their signature recliner beds.

No, this is not a hospital bed
For starters, it’s way more comfy and plush. The hotel chain’s signature SmartBed is adjustable with just a touch of a button. Great for Instagram Stories or Boomerangs.
366 Orchard Rd. Room rates from $160++. For more info, go to http://www.yotel.com/en/hotels/yotel-singapore.

Pretend to be a bartender at: InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay
Think a Nespresso machine in a hotel room’s mini bar is a bonus?

Coffee, tea or martini?
Every swanky room here, modelled after luxurious urban living, comes with everything you need to live out your mixologist dreams - and a Nespresso machine. Score!

Cheers to that
Each cocktail kit is curated by local bar gurus Proof and Co (the folks behind hip watering holes like 28 Hongkong Street) and even includes recipes. Mix up a storm with mini bottles of gin, vermouth, vodka, negroni and house-made coffee liquor and lime cordial and even olives (usual mini bar charges apply). Tres cool, bar none.
1 Nanson Rd. Room rates from $286++. For more info, go to www.intercontinental.com/robertson-quay.

Ogle at an unexpected view at: Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena
Novena is known for a few things — a church, offices, and malls — but a fab view isn’t one of them. Until now. You get a soothing panoramic view of the lush nature reserve at MacRitchie Reservoir when you’re chilling at the infinity pool, the highest rooftop bar in Novena, the hotel’s restaurant or in select rooms at the two-week-old establishment. Great for gorgeous sunset ’grams on clear days, and feels kinda like you’re in Genting Highlands when it’s overcast. Tip: All rooms are the same size (22sqm) but get a corner room for the best views.
99 Irrawaddy Rd. Room rates from $239++. For more info, go to www.courtyardsingapore.com.

Luxuriate in elevated local-ness at: Andaz Singapore
What happens when the designer behind the swish The Upper House in Hongkong gets inspired by Singapore culture? No tacky transplanting of uniquely Singapore icons, thankyouverymuch. Instead, inspired, subtle local touches are peppered throughout this hotel, like an updated version of shophouses as the facade for its restaurants, and doorbells housed in post boxes.

High there
To enjoy sweeping 360-degree views from the top of the cool new DUO building (pictured) where the hotel is housed in, there’s rooftop bar Mr Stork, which offers seating in teepee huts. Glamping and swigging Andaz Pale Ale (a collab with the local Red Dot Microbrewery) in style? We can’t wait to ‘chope’ a spot here.
5 Fraser St. Room rates from $390++. For more info, go to www.andazsingapore.com.
