This may not be the most glamorous news you hear this week, but it could be one of the most meaningful. You know those necklaces, earrings and rings sitting at the bottom of your jewellery box that you haven't worn in years? Donate them. One woman's trash bracelet that reminds her of her ex may be another woman's treasure, and for some other ladies, it could be a lifeline. Multi-brand jewellery retail store Embrace Jewellery has organised a charity drive in conjunction with International Women’s Day (March 8), in collaboration with The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO), and they want your pre-loved jewellery pieces and accessories. These will sold at SCWO’s New2U Thrift Shop, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards Star Shelter, a crisis shelter that provides a safe temporary refuge for women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence, and other SCWO initiatives.
To take part in The Re-Embrace Charity Drive, bring your jewellery or accessories (necklaces, pendants, earrings, bracelets, rings, cuff links, anklets, or brooches — costume jewellery only; no gold jewellery or diamonds and precious stones, please) in good condition to these three locations:
- Embrace Jewellery at Takashimaya Level 3, The Giftbox
- Kai Life at Holland Road Shopping Centre, #02-04
- Kai Life at Great World City, #02-K4
The initiative will run 8 March - 8 May. Each donor will receive a $5 gift voucher, redeemable for purchase of jewellery and accessories at Embrace Jewellery. For more info, go to http://embracejewellery.com
