This Week’s Best-Dressed Local Stars: May 15-22

One of the biggest fashion trends these days (no thanks to the pandemic) is athleisure. We love Carrie’s sporty getup, featuring a sports bra, denim jacket and jeans. Special mention for the pop of neon colour which adds a mood-lifting effect that we all need more of now.

This week, Lawrence showed us how guys can spend a beach staycation in style (after Phase 2 HA, of course). Some of the things to pack include a clashing print summer shirt that lets your fun-loving personality shine through, and an equally bright and bold towel. Fancy!

The modelesque Jesseca looks goddess-like even when she’s dressed in the simplest of loungewear. Her OOTD above features a sheer white stay-home set by Emporio Armani which features clean lines and trend-transcending design that will strike a chord with the straightforward dressers.

Fresh-faced beauty Fann looked ah-mazing in a powder blue blazer layered over the classic T-shirt and jeans combo, proving that simplicity never goes out of style.

Who would’ve thought that jumpsuits would look good on guys? Edwin’s Hugo jumpsuit — which looks like a hybrid of a blazer and jumpsuit — is a fresh alternative to the tailored suit.

This week, Joanne wore a pair of fitted jeans with a frilly nude top for a feminine meets masculine getup. We especially love that she sealed her stylish ensemble with a set of sunshine yellow slides, adding a dose of joy to her look.

Does Sophie’s ombre toga dress remind you of Elvin Ng’s bandung suit? Turns out, Sophie was indeed inspired by the actor’s Star Awards getup. Bandung lookalike or not, we love the frock for its elegant, fuss-free design and cheery colours.

Stripes are undoubtedly one of our favourite prints of all times and we love the vertical design on Bing Yu’s two-piece for its body slimming and elongating effect. It makes for a great casual and summer-appropriate set to wear to the beach too.

The lavender tee and white jeans combo might look a tad too kiddish for some guys. That’s why we like Zane’s idea of layering a black leather jacket which helped to toughen up the look.

How cute do Yvonne and her daughter Alexa look twinning in white blouses and fringed jeans?

We love how out of the box Huifang’s look is; her highlighter top features bold orange and high-low hem, creating the illusion of long limbs and also making the wearer appear fresh and fab.

Sonia’s poplin shirt dress by Max Mara is a chic and convenient piece for days when you wish to look pulled together and get dressed quickly. Its long sleeves are specially designed with side slits, making it the striking detail for the look.

We can’t take our eyes of the sleek ride, but looking equally gorgeous is Yasminne in her jumpsuit. We adore the dramatic bow detail on the front.

It’s been a while since we've worn harem pants, and now that we see Junyang looking all cool and comfy in it, we’re tempted to slip on a pair. And they’re incredibly easy to style whether we’re staying in or heading out.

Trends might come and go but there are always a few key fashion pieces that can withstand the test of time. A sleeveless black dress like the one on Bonnie by Seoul & Lux is an all-occasion number that we can safely fall back on. Bonnie glammed it up with a pair of drop earrings, looking set to strut down a red carpet.

Iman, who celebrated her 21st birthday this week, shined in a shimmery geometric print dress that matched the celebratory mood. Her best accessory? The red bottle of hand sanitiser (we think!), a must-have wherever we’re headed to these days.

Hong Ling put up a strong case for how pin stripe blazers can work beyond boardroom meetings and offices by pairing it with a tee, sheer skirt and slim belt. Her slick hairdo also added style points to her outfit. It’s hard not to fall in love with this grownup and graceful look.

Few local stars have wardrobes as conversation-sparking as Jade’s. While we love the cheery hue and elaborate shoulder detail on this glamorous asymmetrical frock, we wish the dress is entirely in one colour. The top left side of the corset looks like an exposed bra.

Phyllis’ satin dress is a stylish and comfy piece that transits ever so effortlessly from in- to outdoors. For the latter, layer a cardigan and top it off with a designer shoulder bag to elevate the look.
