She’s not a conventional beauty, but when Layla Ong stares at you from a styled photo, all soulful almond-shaped eyes, razor-sharp jawline, luscious lips and long limbs, you begin to understand why her unusual look is so in demand. And we’re not just talking cover of local magazines demand, but Gucci show at Paris Fashion Week demand. Layla’s the first Singaporean model to walk for Gucci on the international fashion week circuit, and just shot a new campaign for Gucci Beauty. She’s also strutted for Dolce & Gabbana, MSGM, Rodarte and more in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

She may be tasting sweet success right now, but the 24-year-old is taking it all in her long-legged stride. When 8days.sg asks in our email interview if she’s the most successful alumni of Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5, despite being one of the first contestants to get the boot that season, she demurs, “I dare not take the title. Everyone in the show has been successful in their own way.”

In between living it up in fashion capitals, she found time to shoot a dreamy Fall 19 campaign for Pomelo, a popular Asian fast fashion label with headquarters in Thailand. Here are a few things you should know about Layla Ong.
