Hiking Trails In Singapore To Explore & Best Gear To Pack – Fab For Avoiding F1 Crowds This Grand Prix Weekend

So it’s the Grand Prix weekend again and the crowds will be flocking to the city centre for the races and concerts. Because of this, there will be several road closures which makes going to the city a little tedious.

If you’re not even going to go to the city but want to clock in your daily steps anyway, here’s a chance to hit these trails for a change of scenery… and terrain.

Sentosa Coastal Trail

Who knew that Sentosa is more than just pretty beaches, expensive houses and yachts? The Imbiah Nature Trail is great for a quick walk through forest landscapes but the coastal trail takes you through an alternate beach route where you can even come across some wildlife.
Difficulty level and trail time: Easy, 90min

Seletar Fishing Village

Only accessible at low tide, a little planning is needed to visit this hidden gem in Seletar. Best viewed at sunset, the walk will take you on the sand bars and the beach that only appears at low tide.
Difficulty level and trail time: Moderate, 45min

Keppel Reservoir

Explore a bit of history at this abandoned reservoir which used to serve as a swimming pool in the colonial era. Besides the hidden reservoir, there is also a disused bunker and a mysterious Japanese tomb in the same area. Your end point should be the top of Mount Faber where you can stop for a breather and the views.
Difficulty level and trail time: Moderate, 90min

The Learning Forest

The forest is part of the Singapore Botanic Gardens although tucked away from the more visited areas. If you’re looking for something more rustic, put on your walking shoes to explore the wetlands and stroll through ancient trees on a boardwalk where you’ll be at canopy-level.
Difficulty level and trail time: Easy, 60min

Tampines Eco Green

Somewhere tucked in the highly populated Tampines town is a pocket of green where there are open grasslands, freshwater wetlands and a secondary rainforest. The park is left rustic to give visitors a more authentic experience – but beware the mozzies!
Difficulty level and trail time: Easy, 90min
