A space age-y, geometric bullet: Moonshot Lip Feat, $29
What they say: The odd-shaped applicator is what they call “Moonshot's signature bullet", and it’s designed for precise application. The unique and elaborate slant, as opposed to your usual lipstick’s rounded tip, is great for getting perfect lines on the cupid’s bow of your lips and the inner corners of your pout without a lip brush.
What we say: The slanted bullet actually works. We found it easy to apply the colour to every part of our lips with a single swipe, and it works like a dream on the cupid’s bow. We also love how pigmented it is. It stains the lips slightly so even after a meal, the colour is still there. Mostly. And the semi-matte shades don't lose out in terms of longevity to their matte counterparts. We give this gimmicky gizmo an A!

A ‘V-cut’ wonder bar: Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar, $32
What they say: An upgrade from the previous Two Tone Lip Bars, these babies will give you that natural, just-bitten Korean gradient lip look that all the K-actresses rock so well, with one simple swipe. The new V-cut in the lip bar (as opposed to just a diagonal cut in the old version) makes it even easier to get the dark-on-the-insides-of-the-lips-and-paler-towards-the-outside-look, and promises rosy coverage on your inner lips and moisture on the outer.
What we say: Because it’s so moisturizing, the bullet is rather soft. We found that we have to be careful not to make a mess with every swipe. We still think the best way to achieve gradient lips is by using a concealer or foundation to cancel out any colour on your pout first before applying colour, but this is not bad if you want a quick gradient fix.

A hidden kiss of moisture: YSL Beauté Volupté Tint-In-Balm, $54
What they say: The lip-shaped inner core on this new lipstick from YSL Beauté is not for show — it actually acts as a lip balm and nourishes your lips without compromising on colour payoff. With each re-application, the tint on your lips gets more vivid.
What we say: They remind us of the old Volupté Tint-in-Oil formulas which give a sheer tinted finish. These are basically tinted lip balms, so don’t expect the pigmentation of regular lipsticks. But they are wonderfully moisturising and did we mention, absolutely delicious-smelling?
