7 Zero-Packaging Naked Bath Goodies From Lush For A More Eco-Friendly Christmas

Festive wrapping and plastic packaging during the gifting season is scarier than mindless consumerism. Lush makes it easier to be a little greener this year.

Yes, using Lush’s naked bath and body products does take some getting used to. By naked, Lush means packaging-free — as in shampoos with no bottles, and bath soaps with no dispensers. I end up saving random jars and bottle lids to put my half-used soaps on, and my shower shelf always looks a little messy and drippy. But it also smells amazing, and thinking about playing just a tiny part towards using less plastic and packaging makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, not to mention very clean and fragrant-smelling.

As part of their zero waste commitment, more than 50 per cent of Lush’s range is now naked, which reduces unnecessary packaging. The number of naked products sold means they’ve avoided 141 million plastic bottles — impressive. Naked products run the gamut from shampoo bars (my favourite — these make your hair so soft and really deserve to be tried by all), pressed conditioners, facial cleansing balms, shower oils, body scrubs and body butters, as well as make-up like solid foundations and highlighters.

At a Lush store, you can opt to take your purchase home in a brown paper bag, or bring your own containers or bags. If you’re gifting, consider an organic cotton knot-wrap as an alternative to wrapping paper — it can be easily re-purposed after the festive season as a head wrap, table cloth, lunch bag or whatever your imagination decrees.

These are our fave Naked products this Christmas, where it’s never been more significant to wash away the stresses and bad juju of 2020 and start 2021 on a fresh, clean, eco-conscious slate.
