Scalpers suck.

Sold-Out Items From Ikea's Markerad Collection Now On Carousell For Twice Or Thrice The Price

Ikea's super-hyped Markerad collab collection from Off-White designer Virgil Abloh launched to the public two days ago on October 31, even ahead of the US's Nov 1 launch. Queues formed outside the two Ikea outlets in Singapore at Alexandra and Tampines as early as the night before, and by opening time at 10am, the crowds had swelled to hundreds of eager beavers.

8days.sg was at Ikea Alexandra for the media preview, and as early as 1030am, staff had come out to tell the crowd that one of the rugs (there's a "Wet Grass" rug and a very meta Receipt rug) were sold out. By noon, more items were sold out, and currently, according to the Ikea Singapore, nine items out of the 15-piece collection were sold out in all stores here.

Who are these super on folks who were buying up everything? Yes, Virgil Abloh is a cult designer and his Off-White label is super popular, but the collection at first glance is quite niche. In our article last month, we said the Markerad items were, while cool, also very weird and discordant. We mean, a rug that looks like an Ikea receipt?

Of course, many of the items have since turned up on Carousell, For twice or three times the original price. We tell the people who genuinely love the collection and actually want the pieces in their home, do not buy from these scalpers. Let them be stuck with their "Wet Grass" rugs forever.
