Ikea X Greyhound's New Collab Brings The Sabai Sabai Life & Bangkok Street Culture Into Your Home

Yeah, we really, really miss travelling to Thailand too. While we wait to be able to hit the streets of Bangkok again, here's the good news: Ikea has just dropped a new collection in collab with iconic Thai lifestyle brand Greyhound, and the furniture and decor pieces are all about that street-chic and easy-going BKK vibe we know and love, mixed in with little elements of Thai tradition, wrapped up in Ikea's modern and Scandi-cool home furnishing expertise.

8days.sg got on a video call with Greyhound co-founder Bhanu Inkawat, who told us he didn't quite believe it was really Ikea when they first e-mailed him about a collab three years ago, and ignored it 'cos he thought it was a fake e-mail. Thankfully, the collab did happen, and it's all kinds of cool. "The brief was that we should address the problem of small space living in urban life, and also bring in the essence of Asian values and style of living," Inkawat tells us. "It was quite tough to crack. Greyhound is a brand that loves to take simple and basic things and add art and creativity. Then it was a matter of taking the Greyhound style and bringing the Thai story into that. We didn't want to do Thai traditional design, but we wanted to bring in the lifestyle of Thai people today. We thought, why don't we pick up on the street living around us, add a twist of creativity and make it suitable for small space living and a new generation of people?"

So, ladies and gentlemen, here's Ikea x Greyhound's Sammankoppla collection, which consists of 25 furniture and home decor items, now available in stores and online.
