Professor Green has opened up about his ex-girlfriend's abortion.

The 34-year-old rapper, whose former love had an abortion when she was 24 and he was 21, said he still desperately wants children and is sure that wasn't his only chance to be a dad.

Speaking on 'Loose Women', he said: "She had an abortion - we didn't talk to any of our families about it.

"Both families were like, 'You idiots, why didn't you talk to us?' You can't go back in time and undo anything ...We were certain we didn't want to bring a kid into the world and it had to go through what we went through."

Professor Green says the longer he goes without having children, the better he becomes as a person so he feels he will be a good father when the time comes.

He said: "It's taken me a long time to get here and the longer I go about not having children, the better I become as a man. Which will hopefully feed into me becoming a better father...'.

Meanwhile, Pro Green - whose real name is Stephen Manderson - recently insisted he has to be "really careful" with his romances.

The star split with his girlfriend of 18 months, Fae Williams, in April this year and was previously married to reality star Millie Mackintosh before that, but has said he won't be rushing into a new romance any time soon, as he's learned to make sure his next relationship is set to "go the distance".

He said: "There's no such thing as a low-profile relationship, so from now on I'm just going to be really, really careful. If I were to get into something now, it would have to stand a chance of going the distance. I've got a lot better at ripping the plaster off quickly. I'm not going through years of bickering just because of habit.

"So there will be no more Instagram posts [as a couple] because it doesn't really benefit me. I guess other parties have benefited from it."

Despite vowing not to post about his relationships on social media, he caused controversy recently over a now-deleted post in which he claimed Fae had "downgraded" in her new romance with Dan Crowe.

The 'Read All About It' hitmaker insisted his post came after Fae had spoken about her new relationship in a way that made Green feel "disrespected".

Speaking about the post, he said: "I just got fed up. We had 18 months together and I expected a little more respect from her to be honest. I get it because it's like: 'Hey look at me, I'm over it,' but what it actually says is the opposite.

"The only 'wrong' thing I did was to leave her, because I couldn't be with her any more as she was. I just hope she sorts herself out because from the outside it just looks crass, and I stupidly stooped to her level for one moment. It wasn't because it hurt me seeing her with someone else, it was because I expected better of her.

"I've got a big heart. In the past it's hurt when that hasn't been reciprocated, but then all I can do is make better choices. You can't change people - you either work or you don't."
