Alfie Boe wants to duet with Shawn Mendes to impress his daughter Grace.

The 44-year-old tenor - who also has son Alfred with wife Sarah - is usually seen performing alongside his musical partner Michael Ball, but he's revealed he'd love to team up with the "young" Canadian heartthrob or Ed Sheeran on a song to earn him some daddy points.

He told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "There's some wonderful young artists coming through. I'd like to sing with Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes.

"My daughter is a big fan of his, so just for my daughter's credibility, I'd like to collaborate."

Alfie is releasing 'As Time Goes By' - his first solo album in four years - this November and although he is excited for people to hear his interpretations of a host of classic 1930s tunes he has promised to work with his great friend and regular collaborator, Michael, again in the near future following the enormous success of their LPs 'Together' and 'Together Again'.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz recently, he said: "We will get back together - we've been speaking about it I think it works and we enjoy working together.

"It's just we both started as solo artists so we both have our own individual careers to focus on as well

"So it's like a separate little project we've spoken about ideas for a new album and I'm sure it'll happen next year some time, we'll see."

The upcoming record contains a host of beloved songs from that era

and on the Cab Calloway 1931 classic 'Minnie the Moocher' Alfie duets with 'Frasier' star Kelsey Grammer, whilst on 'Stompin' at the Savoy' he sings with Kara Tointon.

The British star admits his main goal when recording the album at the world famous Capitol Studios in Los Angeles - the location where Frank Sinatra made so many of his best music - was to make a collection of tracks that he liked, because he's sure his fans enjoy the same music as him.

He added: "Initially, with an album, my goal is to release music that I love and to hopefully have it connect with an audience young and old everything else that goes with it is a bonus."

'As Time Goes By' will be available from November 23.
