Kim Hyang Gi says romantic rain scene with Ong Seong Wu was hard to film

The stars of South Korean drama At Eighteen - Ong Seong Wu, Kim Hyang Gi, and Shin Seung Ho - made a public appearance in Taipei yesterday (Sep 22) to promote the show, attracting over a thousand fans to come and see them.

At Eighteen marks Seong Wu’s first lead role, and the former Wanna One member modestly said that he isn’t sure if his acting skills were up to audience’s standards. When asked for her comments, Hyang Gi said, “His actions and expressions were very natural! It seemed like he had spent a lot of time preparing for the role.”

When discussing their most memorable moments from the shoot, Seong Wu picked a romantic scene where he uses his hands to shelter Hyang Gi’s face from the rain, calling it a very innocent yet outstanding scene. However, Hyang Gi admitted that it was not an easy sequence to shoot, saying, “We used a water truck, and the water pressure was so strong that it dissolved my makeup and made it impossible for me to open my eyes!”

As for her most memorable scene, the actress named the one where she got into a huge fight with her onscreen mother. Because they tried to make their physical struggle appear as realistic as possible, and because they had to film several takes from different angles, Hyang Gi reported that she really got hit a few times.
