Zhu Houren Bumped Into Ex Actress Madeline Chu At The Supermarket And She Looks As Good As Ever
Can you believe that it’s been 25 years since Madeline’s last TV drama?
It’s a small world after all. Veteran actor Zhu Houren, 66, updated his Instagram recently to share that he’d chanced upon a certain someone whom we haven’t seen in very, very, long.
And though both Houren and the mystery lady were both masked up, netizens and fellow celebs were able to instantly recognise her.
And as a small hint for those who might not have gotten it yet — he also added a number of hashtags, naming a number of classic Mediacorp dramas — 1989's Good Morning Sir!, 1988's Mystery, and 1992’s The Great Conspiracy.
With so many hints given by Houren, it was no wonder that everyone managed to guess the identity of the mystery lady almost immediately — former Mediacorp actress Madeline Chu.

The 51-year-old entered showbiz in 1988, and quickly rose to prominence, even gracing the covers of 8 DAYS thrice.
However, she left showbiz in 1996, after tying the knot with her husband and moving to Taiwan. In 2005, the couple returned to Singapore. However, Madeline has since shared that she has no interest in making a comeback, as she wishes to focus on her two daughters. A pity indeed, considering just how much the public misses her.
“Omg Madeline Chu!! Still as beautiful as ever (sic),” one netizen commented on Houren’s post, while another wrote: “When I was younger, I loved watching [her] act in period dramas ‘cos she was so pretty, and looked just like a fairy descending from the heavens”.

Luckily, even though we won't be seeing Madeline on television anytime soon, the former actress still keeps in touch with a number of her former colleagues. Pan Lingling and Huang Biren are just some of the celebs who've posted pictures of their meetups pre-COVID, giving us a glimpse of Madeline, sans mask.
And we have to say, she really looks just as good as she did back in the old days.
