Yvonne Lim Would Have Forgotten About Her 6th Wedding Anniversary If Her Friend Didn’t Remind Her About It

The Taiwan-based star had commemorated the occasion in an Instagram post earlier yesterday (Sep 8).

“Happy sixth anniversary to us! Making Alex cut down on carbs, he said it is hard because of my cooking… So I made him a sushi cake!” wrote Yvonne. “Thank you for being in my life… Love you my dear husband and loving father to my kids!”

And she kept the celebration simple and home-based (we’re in the middle of a pandemic, after all).

In case you don’t remember, the couple got hitched in 2014 after being friends for more than 10 years. They had dated for just six months before deciding to get married. Six years later, they have two children: AJ, six, and Alexa, three.

“Well, sadly, because of our kids, we didn’t do much [on our anniversary].” Yvonne said, adding that Alex also had "work commitments".

But no matter how busy Alex is, Yvonne told us that “he makes it a point to buy flowers every year”

“I’m the one who’s forgetful,” she added guiltily.

Turns out, she actually forgot their anniversary last year. Her reason? She doesn’t have a personal Facebook account to remind her of special dates.

“I was surprised when he showed up with a bouquet of flowers at home. I didn't realise [what occasion it was] until I saw [the flowers],” Yvonne added. “I was busy planning for Alex’s 40th birthday bash, so I explained [my reason] lor. He was okay, I guess. He’s used to me forgetting stuff.”

Yes, September’s a pretty special month for the couple. They not only get to celebrate their wedding anniversary, but both their birthdays as well.

Alex will be turning 41 this Saturday (Sep 12), while Yvonne turns 43 on September 28.

For Yvonne, celebrating birthdays are more important than anniversaries.

“We aren’t that particular [about celebrating anniversaries] but I guess birthdays are more sensitive 'cos that's when we are brought into the world! As we are going for our kids' parent-teacher conference on Alex’s actual birthday, we're just gonna have a small gathering with friends at our place. For my birthday, we have booked a staycation!” Yvonne shared.
