Man Criticised For Spending S$17.7K On Singapore Airlines A380’s First Class Suite, But S’poreans Say Price Tag Is Justified
The video has since racked more than 10 million views.
When travel influencer Antoine (aka LoungeGuru) revealed that he had spent US$14K (S$17.7K) on a Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380 First Class Suite ticket, many people thought it was an insane price tag.
The YouTuber claims he paid for the flight in cash, describing it as the most expensive ticket he has ever purchased.
“The price you pay for these tickets is approximately US$13,000… this is a standard retail fare for this cabin,” he said in the viral YouTube video which has since racked up 10 million views.
He called the experience “the pinnacle of first-class aviation that instantly set a new global benchmark for luxury air travel”.
The exact route was not revealed in the video, though Antoine shared that the flight happened in January, and that it was a full-service First-Class journey.
A quick check online showed that for that price and current A380 routes, it could be flying from the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and New Zealand.
Each SQ A380 aircraft only has six Suites, and in the video, Antoine is seen being ushered up to his Suite in the upper deck of the plane. “It is spacious, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly quiet,” he quipped.
Shortly after settling in, he was presented with plush pyjamas, a luxury amenity kit, and complimentary Bang & Olufsen noise-cancelling headphones.
The flight attendant also offered him a welcome beverage (he opted for a smoothie), before he browsed an extensive menu featuring multiple caviar options.
“From the moment I stepped onboard, the experience felt calm, intentional, and deeply personal,” Antoine gushed in the caption.
“The crew presence was constant yet discreet, with two to three team members always nearby,” he said.
He also praised the handsome male crew for walking him through the selection “dish by dish” to help curate the “perfect dinner experience.”
Some international viewers joked: “I love how he considered the B&O headphones free after paying US$14K,”.
Singaporeans’ reactions online was noticeably more chill.
Many pointed out that SIA’s Suites have long been positioned as a premium, ultra-luxury product and that price tag for a full-fare A380 Suites ticket is not exactly shocking, especially for long-haul routes.
“You get a separate full-flat bed and leather armchair, fine dining with Book The Cook options, and access to The Private Room at Changi Airport,” rattled off a netizen.
Another also pointed out that Singapore Airlines was ranked by the 2025 Skytrax World Airlines Awards as having the World’s Best First Class.
