Yao Wenlong Asks On-Screen Son Zong Zijie To “Teach [Him] How To Act” After Praising The Latter For His Performance In Your World In Mine

It’s been almost two weeks since the premiere of new Mediacorp drama Your World In Mine, and the show has been receiving rave reviews.

The drama, which stars Richie Koh, Huang Bi Ren, Yao Wenlong, Hong Ling and Zong Zijie, shines a light on the struggles faced by people with special needs as well as their family members.

Our recent profile on Richie, who plays the intellectually disabled Tian Cai, saw readers complimenting the 29-year-old star's touching portrayal of the character as well as the drama's plot. 

"Certain scenes can really make you tear, this is what I call a good actor," wrote one netizen about Richie, while another said Your World In Mine will definitely be "nominated at next year's Star Awards".

Chen Hanwei, who is not in the drama, also took to his Instagram to sing praises of the cast’s performances.

"I'm very happy to see the stellar performances of the up-and-coming actors," wrote Hanwei. "Richie's performance was full of good surprises, Hong Ling's emotional scenes were natural and unaffected, Biren's acting prowess."

Zijie, who plays Tian Wei, the hot-headed older brother of Richie's character, recently took to IG to thank fans of the drama.

“I would like to take some time to thank everyone for their support and good reviews of the show,” said Zijie in his recent Instagram post. 

“As an actor, the biggest achievement is when you’re able to move the audience,” he added. 

And those who’ve watched the show would definitely agree that Zijie, whose character shares a very intense love-hate relationship with his brother, has managed to touch the hearts of viewers. 

Among the many people who commented on Zijie's post was Wenlong, who plays Zijie's father. He first commended his on-screen son on his performance, before quipping: “Can you teach me how to act?”

Zijie then humbly replied: “It was my 'father' who brought out my acting skills.”

Meanwhile, Desmond Ng, who is also in the drama, also took to his Instagram to thank fans for their support. 

In Your World In Mine, Desmond plays Hong Mao Dan (yes, his name sounds like 'rambutan' in Mandarin), a kind-hearted chicken rice seller who devotes his life to caring for his schizophrenic and dementia-afflicted mother, played by Xiang Yun.

"[This show] will give you a different perspective on life," wrote the actor, adding that "the story is only going to get better".

In the show, Mao Dan also shares a special bond with Tian Cai. 

Getting into character again, Richie posted a picture (see below) on his own IG mimicking Desmond's pose.

"Whatever Hong Mao Ge Ge does, I will do it too," wrote Richie.

Desmond's reply? "Haha, why pick up the bad [habits] and not the good?"
