Ya Hui Played Basketball After Her Booster Jab & Was Sent To The A&E On The Day The Star Awards Nominations Were Announced
The Best Actress nominee was in so much pain that she “couldn’t swallow or speak”.
The day that Star Awards 2022 nominations were announced was supposed to be a day of celebration for Ya Hui, who is up for Best Actress for her role in CTRL.
Instead, the 33-year-old, whose last nod in the same category was in 2016, felt “heartache”. Literally..

In an interview with 8world, Ya Hui shared that on the morning the list of nominees was released, she was sent to the hospital for chest discomfort and had “no time to care about anything else”.
As it turns out, she had just gotten her COVID-19 booster jab, so you can probably predict where this is going.
“I knew I shouldn’t engage in strenuous exercise for two weeks after that, so I just played a bit of basketball with my nephew,” she said. “I never expected that I would experience such indescribable pain in my chest two days later.”

According to Ya Hui, it hurt so much that she “couldn’t swallow or speak”.
“At first I just went to a clinic, but the doctor immediately arranged for me to go to the emergency department, but they couldn’t find the cause during the examination,” she recalled. “It could have been very strong side effects from the vaccine.”
Fortunately, Ya Hui is now feeling much better after a few days of rest.

Despite not being able to “care about anything else” when she was in the A&E (which is understandable), Ya Hui added that she was still “surprised” when she found out about her nomination from her manager.
However, she had to “suppress her emotions” in order to prevent her chest pain from potentially getting worse.
When asked who she thinks has a good chance of bringing home the trophy, Ya Hui admitted that she has only seen snippets of the other nominated performances on social media, so she isn’t really qualified to answer that question.
“But I selfishly hope that Desmond Tan can win Best Actor ‘cos he’s the only one I worked with the most last year,” she chuckled, referring to their dramas CTRL and Home Again.
