Xiang Yun Thought The Best Rising Star Award Was Called The "Best Prostate” Award Which Made Her Very Confused During Star Awards 2023

The actress and Zhu Houren and Richard Low even came up with a winner for Best Prostate. Guess who?

Xiang Yun, 61, was the big winner at this year's Star Awards — she was named Best Supporting Actress and won the Evergreen Artiste award on Sunday (Apr 9).

While there's no denying her acting abilities, Xiang Yun might have to work on her hearing.

In a video posted by her husband Edmund Chen, Xiang Yun revealed that she had totally misheard the Best Rising Star category name when it was first announced.

According to Xiang Yun, she thought the Best Rising Star award, which went to Indian host Das DD, was called the — wait for it — "Best Prostate" award.

You see "Rising Star" is "qian li xing" in Mandarin while "prostate" is "qian lie xian". The terms may not sound exactly the same, but they are similar enough for Xiang Yun to get mixed up.

So yes, Xiang Yun actually thought there was a Best Prostate award, which made her very confused.

"I couldn't understand why they kept talking about a Best Prostate award," she said, adding that she only realised her blunder halfway through the show.

Hilariously, Xiang Yun's fellow Evergreen Artiste nominees Zhu Houren, 68, and Richard Low, 70, were equally confused too.

"During the show, we suddenly saw the words 'Best Rising Star', then we realised we misheard the pronunciation. That was how this joke came about," she recalled.

And funnily, the trio even found themselves a winner for their "Best Prostate Award".

"Houren said that Richard is number one and he's number two," she laughed.

The reason? "Richard goes to the toilet seven times every night and Houren says he only does five, so he's number two".

That led Edmund to quip: "How does Houren know Richard goes to the toilet seven times? Do they sleep together?"

"Of course he's just joking!," responded Xiang Yun while giving Edmund a light smack on the shoulder.

How cute are they?
