This New Reality Dating Show Is Looking For Single Contestants... And Their BFFs

If you love binge watching dating shows, or even secretly dreamed of being in one yourself, this might be the thing for you. 

Mediacorp is launching a new reality dating show — with a twist — and they're looking for contestants. In Wingman, singles team up with their besties, who act as their, well, wingman, as they navigate a group dating experience that’s all about teamwork. 

While the single in the duo looks for a potential partner among the pool of participants, their bestie is there to offer support, advice, and perhaps even the occasional reality check if the situation calls for it. After all, who else will give you the cold, hard truth but your BFF?

“Wingman is bringing to screen what many of us would like to voice out to our friends when we see their relationships unfolding before us,” says Joy Goh, Mediacorp’s Commissioner of Unscripted Content.

“How many of us will be truly happy for our besties if we think their partner sucks? How about when your best friend and your romantic partner genuinely get along? To me, that’s a stamp of approval,” she explains. 

The show also offers a fresh twist on the dating show formula, and is not your regular boy meets girl, boy and girl get together narrative. 

After all, the reality goes beyond that, and when it comes to budding relationships, it’s unavoidable that friends and family often have a hand in the choices we make.

As for what’s in store, Joy says viewers can look forward to slow-burn dates, fast-paced physical challenges, juicy tension, plenty of flirting, the occasional misfired signal, and even heartfelt moments.

How to sign up to be on Wingman

Wingman is now calling for applicants. Those who are looking to sign up for the show with their besties must meet the following requirements.

• Aged 21 to 35 (as of Jan 31, 2026)
• Both applicants, “single” and “Wingman” must be legally single (no situationships!)
• Both applicants must be of the same sex
• Legal residents of Southeast Asia who are able to film in Singapore for up to three weeks in March 2026
• Fluent in English

Participants selected for the show will receive accommodation, meals, and logistical support, plus a chance to win exciting prizes.

Wingman is set to premiere in the first half of 2026.

The show marks Mediacorp’s first reality dating programme in seven years — the last being Chinese reality dating show The Destined One in 2019. 

“The world — and by extension, dating — has changed drastically since 2019, and we wanted a show that reflected that,” says Joy on what inspired the return of a dating show, adding that living through the pandemic has shifted many values and reshaped how people view relationships.

Beyond changing times, Joy adds that social media has transformed how we view and showcase our relationships. With everyone so connected, it’s easy to judge, be judged, and empathise with others — often in a “very instantaneous and often, public way”.
