Host Germaine Tan Invited By Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo For Photo At S’pore Wicked Fanmeet: “It Just Shows How Kind They Are”

The name of the film might be Wicked but the cast? Definitely some of the kindest of them all.

Just ask 987 DJ Germaine Tan who just hosted the Wicked: For Good premiere fan meet at Resorts World Sentosa yesterday (Nov 13).

Last night, the 30-year-old took to her Instagram to relive one of the, in Germaine's words, "most major hosting events" in her 10-year career. 

"As if there weren't already enough reasons to love Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo, so overwhelmed by their kindness and love," she gushed in her caption. 

We don't think they need further introduction but for those who still don't know, Ariana plays Glinda, the bubbly, ambitious “Good Witch" while Cynthia's Elphaba — the powerful, misunderstood "Wicked Witch of the West" — in the two-part cinematic adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. 

Germaine's video first showed Ariana and Cynthia taking a photo with the rest of the main cast — namely Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), Jeff Goldblum (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) — and the film's director Jon M. Chu, at Universal Studios Singapore. 

Suddenly, Ariana and Cynthia gestured for Germaine to join them for the pic.

"I'm literally saying: 'Me?!' I was stunned," she chirped in the video caption. "Not queen Cynthia "holding space" for me in the middle," she continued while the video showed Cynthia scooting over to let Germaine take center spot among the superstar lineup.

"I love these witches so much!!!!," gushed a visibly ecstatic Germaine. 

When 8days.sg reached out to the jock, she happily tells us she was standing behind the photographer, coordinating the final moment with the confetti when the moment of a lifetime took place. 

"[I was] Just focusing on making sure everything went smoothly. When I saw Ariana and Cynthia gesturing, I assumed they needed help from one of their entourage members, so I was looking around me," she recalled.

As it finally dawned on her, Germaine was entirely floored.  

"It was something they absolutely did not have to do, but the gesture and thought was so sweet. It just shows how kind they are."

Did the cast say anything to her after the photo though?

"Honestly I was having an out of body experience," she chuckles. "Also I couldn't hear a thing anyone was saying."

Most of us can only dream of being this close to such superstars, but take it from Germaine, they "looked sooo beautiful up close".

"Even though the heat was relentless, they were incredibly good natured about it all," she adds.

In a separate InstaStory, Germaine shared that she managed to score a hug from Jeff Goldblum during the yellow carpet interview too: "I highly recommend a hug from Jeff Goldblum, it healed me.”

She later tells us that she actually showed Jeff a photo from a 2018 article where a hotel guest in Singapore requested for photos of the star to be printed and pasted in the room.

When Jeff said "I want to give that person a kiss and a hug”, Germaine seized the opportunity and jokingly replied "It was me!”

"He gave me a huge Jeff Goldblum daddy vibe hug and it was just so warm and sweet," she recalls.

This is actually Germaine's second time meeting the stars, her first being last November when she flew to Los Angeles for the Wicked premiere.

At that time, Ariana and Cynthia totally hyped her up for her oh-so-adorable "Modern Dorothy" blue outfit, and Cynthia even pointed out how cute the jock's silver shoes were. 

Does Germaine know if the stars still recognise her from that interview?

"I'm not sure about this but I don't think so! I'm realistic (laughs). They meet so many people every day," she chirps.

While the entire night feels like a dream come true, it did come with a lot of hard work and preparation too. 

They had multiple rehearsals to "make sure everything is in order", and those dry runs had to be early in the morning before Resorts World Sentosa and USS open to the public. 

"I was waking up at 4am to do a full glam, after my night time radio show ends at midnight, and heading to rehearsals at 6am. It was definitely a toll physically but I am so glad the entire team pulled through," beams Germaine.

"And I am so grateful to have had the privilege of being part of this momentous occasion," she adds.
