Local Singer WhyLucas, Who Made Top 9 Of Thai Idol Show, Eliminated First On Mediacorp Game Show I Can See Your Voice
The 21-year-old, whose real name is Lucas Wang, took part as a mystery singer on the new gameshow. It did not end well for him.

Local singer-songwriter Lucas Wang, better known online as WhyLucas, is one of the 60 contestants who will be appearing on the second season of popular Chinese and Thai reality survival show, Chuang Asia.
The show is set to premiere on Feb 2, and earlier this month, it was announced that the second-year NUS Business School student had placed in the Top 9.
Since the show has yet to air, not many people are familiar with Lucas, who has over 24k followers on TikTok.
That was definitely the case when the 21-year-old appeared on the second episode of Mediacorp gameshow I Can See Your Voice Singapore.
The local adaptation of the popular South Korean mystery singer show sees celebrity contestants, with the aid of a celebrity panel, attempting to differentiate good singers from the bad. They aim to eliminate the bad singers through three rounds of detective work, including a 0.3-second audio clip of the contestants’ singing, a lip-sync challenge, and a quick-fire Q&A.
The mystery singer who makes it to the end will go home with $10K.
Lucas was one of the mystery singers on the second ep of the show, but sadly, he was also the first person to be eliminated.
After hearing the 0.3-second clip of the mystery singers’ voices, celebrity contestants Jack and Rai guessed that Lucas, who went by the nickname ‘The Next Big Thing’, might be “a guitarist but not a singer”.
They ultimately decided to eliminate Lucas as Jack said the “0.3 seconds made [him] feel like he was not playing the guitar”, and that his backstory as a pub singer was “too predictable”.
As Lucas walked out for the moment of truth, panelist Xixi Lim, remarked that they “might have just missed a superstar”.
And she was proven right the moment Lucas opened his mouth to sing a pitch-perfect rendition of ‘Counting Stars’.
After his performance, Lucas took the chance to plug his own music, revealing that he makes songs based on “past situationships”, and had just dropped a track titled ‘Oh, Krissy Baby!’.
“He is the next big thing,” said Xixi with regret. Her fellow panelist Najip Ali then joked: “He’s not the next big thing... he’s the first thing to leave.”
Little did they know, with Lucas’ upcoming appearance on Chuang Asia, he might really be the Next Big Thing.
