Qi Yuwu Explains Why He and Joanne Peh Still Keep Their Kids Out of the Public Eye

When it comes to celebrities and their kids, there are typically two types.

Those who love showing off their children and get them involved in their work. Then there are those who do everything they can to keep their kids out of the spotlight.

We all know which camp celeb couple Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh belong to. Their daughter is already 10 and their son, nine, and we still have no clue what either of them look like.

In an old interview that recently resurfaced online, Allan Wu openly expressed his admiration for Yuwu on the YouTube series  Call Us Daddy, praising him for actively shielding his children from the public eye.

Alan, of course, belongs to the first group and has no issue posting about his kids on his socials.

So why are Joanne and Yuwu are so protective about their kids?

"I feel that we're [in the spotlight] because of who we are and our work. We don't have a choice anymore. As an actor, I have to be exposed to the public. But they're not," explained Yuwu, 49.

"Why should my children have to go through the same thing just because they are my kids? I think that doesn't make sense."

Yuwu has also thought about the possibility that his children could one day resent them if their faces were exposed to the public.

"Maybe when they grow up, they'll ask: 'Why did you make my face public? That wasn't my choice. Why did you guys make the decision for me?'" he added.

The actor also worries about how being a "public figure" could affect their values.

"Being a celebrity honestly does bring some conveniences, but if a child takes it the wrong way, it might affect their values," said Yuwu.

"They might think everything comes easily," he added.

Now that the kids are older, the most we see on the couple’s socials are their side profiles
