When Fiona Xie Showed Us The Meaning Of Bae Watch In 8 DAYS' First Swimsuit Issue
The inaugural edition of our Swimsuit Issue was simply unforgettable.
With Baywatch, the movie remake of the iconic ’90s TV show about beach bods and bombshells opening this week, it’s only right we bring you 8 Days’ very first Swimsuit Issue starring Singapore’s very own bombshell Fiona Xie. Shot in Cairns in 2003, the then-21 Fiona was apprehensive about posing in just her bikini. “Actually, I’m quite worried about the (sexy) photos. I prefer the fun shots, because they’re safer. With the sexy shots, sure, guys will like you, but for the wrong reasons. And the women will hate you.” We don’t think Fiona, who we’ll soon see on the big screen in Hollywood movie Crazy Rich Asians, had anything to worry about. This shoot cemented Fiona’s standing as Singapore’s sexiest star and 14 years on, we still don’t think we’ve met anyone who looks as good in a swimsuit as the marvelous Miss Xie.

On the worst thing about this swimsuit shoot, Fiona said "What's with all that jumping and running, you have to make sure that all the strings and pieces are still in place, and nothing is falling out."

"Not enough," said Fiona about the number of bikinis she owns. "Sometimes, you buy them just to collect them, not necessarily wear them."

"My youthfulness - the California girl thing," said Fiona about her best quality for a swimsuit shoot."
Sun-kissed beauty
On what she scrutinises when she looks at other swimsuit shoots, Fiona said, "The cerebral articles (laughs). The models' expressions. Someone who's confident that she can carry off the swimsuit is very attractive."
Don't mind the arch
"I'm the type to see (someone) as a total package, not part by part; and I like to see the good things and praise those qualities," said Fiona.
