Wang Yuqing’s Stepson Xavier Ong Claims Terence Cao’s Sibay Shiok Owes Him “S$13K-S$15K”; Terence Hands The Matter To His Legal Team
Xavier, who was a live streamer for the company for a few months, also alleged that he was called “idiot” and “useless” during his time there.
It looks like we may have just witnessed our first celeb vs celeb drama of 2022.
On Sunday (Feb 13), local actor Xavier Ong, whose stepfather is veteran star Wang Yuqing, did a Facebook live broadcast to air some pretty damning allegations against Sibay Shiok, the e-commerce platform launched by Terence Cao, Dawn Yeoh, Vincent Ng, and Shane Pow.
Xavier, 27, was with Sibay Shiok as a live streamer for about three to four months before leaving the company in early January this year. He now runs a live-stream e-commerce biz of his own called City Boy.
In his 50-minute video, Xavier shared that Dawn, 35, first brought him in as a live streamer, but he eventually began taking on additional responsibilities, such as handling the backend system and replying to Facebook messages.

While he was grateful for the learning opportunity, he said that “it started to become an expectation” and that “as expectations increased, words got harsher”.
“Whenever things didn’t go right, I would get scolded even though it wasn’t my fault,” he said, adding that being told “you are useless” and “I’m paying you, just shut up and work” was “the last straw” that made him quit.
Although Xavier never specified who it was that hurled the verbal insults at him, the message that he sent Terence informing of his departure suggests that it was the 54-year-old actor.“I never expected to be name-called ‘idiot’ and ‘useless’ repeatedly after what I’ve contributed, whether or not I’ve met anyone’s expectations,” said Xavier, reading out the text he sent.
“I see what [you, Terence] are doing to build an effective team in a fast-paced environment, forcing a steep learning curve for all of us, [but] it could have been a more enjoyable journey together. Moving forward, let me know how you want to sort out the finances after you work out my pay, commission, and hotel expenses.”
And Terence’s reply was: “It’s okay, appreciate your efforts. I sincerely apologise for my harshness last night, I’m sorry. It’s just a job, we can still be friends.”
He also told Xavier that he would get someone to calculate his payment ASAP, but that apparently wasn’t the case.

According to Xavier, he is still owed “S$13,000-S$15,000” in remuneration and other expenses, and that all his attempts to reach out to Terence regarding this issue have been in vain.
Xavier even tried to use a Telegram channel he had created for Sibay Shiok and had full ownership of as ‘leverage’ to get his money.
“The agreement was to pay me for my work, and I will transfer the ownership,” he said. “Ever since January 6, I started asking for my pay and I never got that five-figure amount that I was supposed to be paid. I asked time and time again and even texted [Terence] directly and I was blocked, so I could not get an answer.”
He claimed that Terence blocked him on WhatsApp and Instagram, and ignored his emails, SMSes, Telegram messages, and Facebook messages.

Last Tuesday, Xavier removed the other admins’ posting and deleting rights on the Sibay Shiok’s Telegram channel but said that they were still able to respond to customers’ questions.
“I did not ever want to withhold the Telegram channel,” he clarified. “From day one, I said I would transfer the channel back to them the moment my money comes in.”
However, Xavier has given up on his attempt to claim his salary and declared that he will transfer the channel back to the Sibay Shiok team “at 2359 tonight”.
“I’m gonna forget it, that S$13,000 or S$15,000,” he sighed. “I just wanna shift all my attention onto City Boy and not get distracted by these toxic and negative issues. It’s been a very stressful two weeks for me trying to reach out to [Terence] and still not getting an answer. I just want to close this chapter and move on, and hopefully earn that back one day.”A few hours later, Terence and Dawn launched their own lengthy live stream on Sibay Shiok’s Facebook page to respond to Xavier’s allegations.
When a netizen asked if it was true that “the person” (Xavier) has yet to receive his S$13,000 salary, Terence replied: “We at Sibay Shiok take this allegation very, very seriously and I wanna tell you that we have spoken to our legal team and they are working on it with immediate effect.”
“I’m not denying anything and I’m not here to start an argument with anyone,” he declared. “It’s very simple — everything has to be proven. We’re gonna leave this to the legal team to prove that whatever allegations he has is correct or wrong. I’m gonna leave it at that.”
Terence went on to say that the Telegram channel, which was created to be like “a concierge service” during the team’s trip to Thailand, was “hacked” and that all the admins, including himself and Dawn, were kicked out.
“The funny thing is, people are saying there’s an admin who’s responding, but I wonder who’s the admin ‘cos when all of us aren’t inside, who’s the one answering? That’s the puzzling part,” said Dawn.

When Shin Min Daily News reached out to Xavier for his thoughts on Terence and Dawn’s video, he said that while he expected Terence’s response, he was “very disappointed” with Dawn, whom he said had “always protected” him.
As for Terence opting to take legal action, Xavier said: “The purpose of my live broadcast was to bring this matter to an end, but if it has come to that, there’s nothing else I can do… at the moment, I have not received anything and I can only play it by ear. Anyway, this matter is over for me.”
