An Indonesian creator who attended the Singapore Society event at King's College London even tried eating it on the spot — yes, like it was the Mamee Monster snack.

Say you attend an event organised by a Singapore organisation and get a goodie bag of things that remind you of our little red dot. You'd expect some snacks too, maybe some gem biscuits, or murukku?

But uncooked bee hoon? Did the organisers mistake it for instant noodles?

That was a snack that Indonesian content creator Onat Siahaan did not expect to receive in a goodie bag when he attended a theatre show by the Singapore Society at King’s College London.

In a video posted on Instagram February 10, Onat, who works as a digital marketing strategist, looked visibly confused as he showed off the contents of his snack pack.

Onat revealed in the comments section that the packet of uncooked vermicelli was given out by a society reportedly aiming to promote Singapore culture.

His video also showed other attendees with packets of vermicelli, along with drinks from Yeo’s.

Onat then attempted the unthinkable: he bit into a packet of uncooked bee hoon.

Yes, like it was a packet of Mamee Monster snack.

He captioned the clip with a question many viewers were probably asking too: “Is this the best way to, have it?”

When 8days.sg reached out to Onat, he told us: “It tasted raw. It was not for eating on the spot, which was interesting to me. That was the first time I was in an event, and given food to be cooked at home.”

“I even had some stuck in my teeth,” he added.

Unsurprisingly, netizens were just as baffled.

“I’m Singaporean and I don’t understand why they would do this,” read a comment, while another wrote, “Not much effort, eh?”

Onat also asked viewers: “So, is it like the best type of noodles, ever?”

Well… that’s debatable. For mee siam, maybe? After some time in boiling water, of course.

We can think of many Singapore snacks... But vermicelli is not one of them
Is that how you eat it?
