MP Tin Pei Ling Tells Kids She’s Not Afraid Of Cockroaches Because She Used To Catch Them When She Was Younger

That wasn't the only surprise she had for the kids on Mediacorp show Hello Big Shots!

After MP Baey Yam Keng was asked for his phone number by a little girl on meWATCH show Hello Big Shots!it's now fellow MP Tin Pei Ling’s turn to be grilled by some very inquisitive kids.

MP Tin, 38, who has two sons of her own, was more than happy to take on the six kids and their unconventional line of questioning.

This kid wanted to know what MP Tin would do if her stomach growled when Parliament is in session

While some kids wanted to know what her favourite food and drink is (mala and coffee, if anyone is wondering), one kid in particular wanted to know how she would deal with her stomach going ‘gulu gulu’ during Parliament.

She chuckled before answering: “That would be rather embarrassing, so I’ll find a chance to step outside and have something to eat before returning inside. They have some coffee and light snacks there.”

“That’s nice,” replied another kid, clearly impressed that the Parliament provided the MPs with snacks.

They tried to scare her… well, tried

Being the mum of two boys probably means MP Tin is used to mischievous pranks. It would explain why she was totally unfazed when the kids tried to scare her with a toy snake and a couple of toy rats.

The only thing MP Tin had to say about the fake rodents? “Chey, what’s that?”

She went on the share that the insect she isn't scared of at all are cockroaches.

“I caught cockroaches back when I was a student. I studied biology in secondary school. Our teachers told us to catch some cockroaches so we could dissect them, so I caught many cockroaches. My mum and I went to the rubbish dump to catch live cockroaches, that’s why I’m not afraid of them at all. You won’t be afraid once you catch many of them,” she revealed to the surprise of the kids.

MP Tin also brought her own surprise for the kids

When she told them she had a surprise waiting behind the door, one cheeky kid asked: “Is it a baby?”

However, in pranced something bigger and much furrier – MP Tin’s dog, Shogun, which she adopted from the SPCA.

One kid innocently asked: “Does it poop?”

Trying to resist chuckling, MP Tin said: “All living creatures poop, it pees too.”
