Thomas Ong’s Classmates In Their 20s Didn’t Know He’s Famous Until He Was Approached For Photos

“In class, apart from me and one other Malay uncle, all the other classmates looked to be youngsters in their 20s,” Thomas wrote, adding that as he lived in the same area as two of these youngsters, he decided to give them a ride home.

“We even ate dinner at a nearby coffeeshop before heading home. As we were eating, a female stranger came up to us to ask for a picture with me,” Thomas went on to share.

And that was the very moment where his two twentysomething classmates realised that Thomas is famous.

Here’s how the conversation with one of his classmates, whom he referred to as a 23-year-old 'brat' went:

“Brat: You’re a celeb?
Thomas: Err… I’m an influencer. Do you know Wang Lei?
Brat: Yeah. What kind of influencer are you?
Thomas: …
Brat: Are you as old as Wang Lei?
Thomas: Do I look very old to you?
Brat: You look like you’re older than my parents. Sorry, I’m very direct with my words.
Thomas: Oh, how old are they?
Brat: 43
Thomas: …. "

“I had no choice but to admit to myself that I am indeed old,” Thomas went on to write.

For the record, Wang Lei’s 60 this year, while Thomas is 52.

“It turns out that even if I wasn’t wearing a mask in class, no one would’ve recognised me anyway,” he adds.

However, it appears that Thomas might have been a little too modest, according to this comment the course trainer left on his post.

“[Despite the fact that you were wearing a mask during the lesson], students recognised you during break time and secretly asked me [about you]. They said you look even younger and they watched a lot of your shows.” she wrote in her comment.
