Tay Ying’s Engagement To Celeb Chef Wu Sihan Makes Headlines In Taiwan

It's not every day that we get to see our local celebrities featured on overseas news sites.
So imagine our surprise when we chanced upon pictures of Tay Ying and Wu Sihan's engagement on Taiwan tabloids.
Yesterday (Mar 25), Taiwanese media star.ettoday published an article with the headline: "Singaporean second-generation star Tay Ying is getting married!"
They reported that the 28-year-old star and her celeb chef fiancé Sihan, 33, whom she's been dating for four years, will be tying the knot this June.
The couple revealed to 8days.sg last week that Sihan proposed last year on Mar 20, exactly a year before they announced their upcoming nuptials.
Star.ettoday's story also included blessings Tay Ying's parents, veteran Mediacorp artistes Hong Huifang and Zheng Geping, posted on their respective Instagram accounts.
"My feelings are complex as I witness my daughter's upcoming marriage. I'm filled with bliss and joy, but also can't bear to marry her off," they quoted Huifang.
Meanwhile, Geping shared that he's "confident" Tay Ying and Sihan will continue to "communicate very well with each other, accept each other’s flaws, respect one another, and build a happy and harmonious family together."
"A daughter is meant to be cherished like a princess, and I believe my son-in-law will treat her like a princess too," gushed Geping in his post.
It's safe to assume Tay Ying's unexpected coverage in Taiwan is a result of Huifang-jie's recent activities there.
The 2022 Golden Horse Best Leading Actress nominee made her Taiwanese drama debut in Breeze By The Sea last year. The romance drama also starred Taiwanese actors Chen Bolin and Puff Kuo, as well as local actress Fann Wong.
CatWalk Taiwan, the agency that manages Huifang there, has since shared the article on their socials. Huifang, who was tagged in the post, has also shared the news by reposting and mentioning Tay Ying and her future son-in-law.
Though Sihan reposted the story shortly after, Tay Ying has still yet to respond to the news as of press time.
When 8days.sg reached out to the starlet to find out how she feels about making headlines in Taiwan, she replied through her manager that she "has nothing to say and share" about it.
Guess she'll be acknowledging Mum's repost of the Taiwan news article privately.
